Samantha Popovics

Samantha joined the Live 5 News team in January 2023.

Professional Experience: Before joining Live 5 in January, I was Radio Production Assistant at Fox News in Manhattan, New York. In college, I interned for WPDE ABC 15 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - while also working for ESPN+ as a digital production assistant at Coastal Carolina University.

News Philosophy: Being a journalist people can trust and feel they have an unbiased platform to share their voice -- bringing light to the truth. What I love most about being a journalist is meeting various people from different backgrounds and bringing their stories to life.

Hometown: Staten Island, New York, where my parents and younger sister and brother Heather and Justin reside!

Education: I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast and Interactive Journalism with a minor in theater. I transferred from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia where I was a musical theater major.

Hobbies & Interests: All things involving the arts! I love to sing and act whenever possible. I attended the “Fame High School” in New York City as a vocal major and music is always a huge part of my life. I also love to see concerts, plays and explore museums (art and history!)

Likes Best About the Lowcountry: I am extremely new to the Lowcountry, but I love the culture of this city, being close to the beach and all of the history that built this city. I am excited to explore more and get to know different neighborhoods.
